every morning, i woke to my mother crying.
i asked her, why do you cry all the time, mama? what do you want? and she said, i wake up in the morning, and there is no coffe to make. there is no bread. there is no milk. there is nothing. what do you want? to know from god why we live on this earth.
i took a basket and went out along the roadside to find potatoes. i stole sometimes, cabbages and potatoes to feed my brothers and sisters.

we were six: three girls and three boys. we slept on the floor in a house half under a roof, half not under a roof. the days it rained, we spent the day getting rid of the water. we would spend the night getting rid of the water. we were by exhausted by the cold. we were exhausted. when i think of my parents, what they suffered, and what we suffered with them... what we lived, that was not a life.
