jumped a train for the weekend. blue sky on the coast in nice, smooth stone beaches. laid in the sun and smiled at the sky. climbed to the highest point in the city. waded. slept with the windows open.
took a bus ride to st. paul de vence where marc chagall and james baldwin lived for awhile, then died. ate a delicious ratatouille with sausages and salade niçoise on a terrace. drank coffee, played pétanc, drank ricard in the dying light. had dinner on the harbor.
home to paris, daylight savings time means it stays bright longer.
had a beautiful dream on friday night.
There is nothing to save
There is nothing to save, now all is lost,
but a tiny core of stillness in the heart
like the eye of a violet.
