In the night, my fingers became swollen with heat. The room is heavy and stifling, sounds of sleeping damper all the air in the house. I tangle my legs in the white duvet; its stuffing migrates around my limbs. Finally, when dawn comes, there is refuge in wild dreams that twist through what must have been hours of the morning. Now there is calm in the daylight, but my rings still won't twist off my fingers.
