fragments: out of the garden

...
for life
not as a duration,
but as a practice.

...

i put an insurmountable distance between us
and then left it there.
the taken limb casting
a wilted shadow.
...

i could be folded into your nudity
and made to disappear
our secret rehearsal of lovemaking
the door hanging between
open and closed
i stripped every article from your skin
you were clothed by your silence
somewhere
a shuddering of leaves
fills the house up
completely.
my breath,
opaqued by desire,
shrouds us.

i am, also, an eve
the unfamiliar rib
my own devices
the same stuff,
transmutable
transmuted

an ever-repenting
mutiny

pull me closer
pull me closer
pull me closer
