The mornings are devoted to study. In the afternoon, after a nap, martin and I go on a long walk. On college street, the cafe is open and sunny, with large tables. We sit down in the window and I learn politics from forgotten newspapers left in the sun. Layton's wife screams while she swims laps so that no one can hear her fall apart. She seems noble, and poetic. The Quebecois accent, adorable. I ask the bus driver, "Do you make change?" and he smiles and says no, while handing me a ticket and transfer. "Pay next time." At Rachels, it is warm, and we go to the farmer's market for greens and squash and beets. On the road we find a box of old VHS tapes and select hamlet, batman, star trek, Thelma and louise... Lake view dinner for Monday milkshakes, Jessica Biel sits at the bar. I learn about about selling your panties on the Internet, quick and dirty Canadian politics, and an island of crumbling mansions off the coast of Georgia.
