the last few days have been an unwelcome but much needed respite from otherwise silent january. spent several hours standing in front of the gates of hell this afternoon– half-hearted rain gave way to a sunny afternoon and a group of white-haired rodin enthousiasts on a fine arts tour of the campus. i stuck around to hear what they had to say about the gates, then cal train back to city for dinner with cousin: bring your own booze pakistani restaurant in the mission. tomorrow in sacramento to climb with alex and renee, then to folsom for friday. redding at eight on sunday morning until the end of april. the end of april. on the calendar it looks like such a small fraction of a yar, but i know well enough by now how much happens in the matter of a few short months.
